Rara Freakout

Today is Sunday. It started out with a church going mishap. No, I do not regularly go to church, but it was an attempt I made this morning. There is too much going on with me right now, this year, this period of my life. Keep reading →

Rara Goodbye

Carrot Cake Cupcakes 2
Last night I went to a bar on the Lower East Side called ‘Revolver’ to say goodbye to a very good friend. I found out earlier this week that he had decided only three weeks ago to move back home to Youngstown, Ohio in order to pursue his design career full time. I am so happy for him, as he deserves to put his dreams first and this is a great step he is taking to show serious dedication in his career and goals. Think about it, he is voluntarily moving home! Selfishly, I am sad to see him go and want him to stay on our corner for many years to come, just so I can feel like I have a friend nearby. However, I am more happy for this good change for him, he needs this change. I know he will do great things. Above is a picture of the going away present I made for him: dark chocolate chip carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Goodbye Umar. I hope we stay in touch. I will miss you so very much and for so many reasons.

Rara Work

My coworker just dropped off a copy of the book, The No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn’t by Robert I. Sutton, PhD.  I laughed and asked if the book was hinting at something, which my coworker insisted wasn’t the case.  *a girl has to wonder sometimes, as i’ve learned-always take up anyone’s offer of gum.*  My coworker said he thought it might better help me survive my work environment.  Fair enough and I am thankful someone else noticed my strained work atmosphere!

I am on chapter 1, aptly titled: What Workplace Assholes Do and Why You Know So Many.  There is a little guide to asertaining an asshole, versus a jerk or annoyance.  I think these characterisitics can be applied to romatic relationships and friends.  I found it interesting and applicable.  *this girl wonders if she should start applying these tests on the men she’s dating and the company she keeps.* Keep reading →

Rara Freakout

I did not manage to buy tickets for the Foo Fighters show.

Ticketmaster keeps telling me they don’t have any tickets and makes suggestions on other things I can try.  Wish they included: selling my escort services for a ticket, proving my die-hard fan knowledge and length of time I’ve loved Dave Grohl.  Am tempted to stand outside Irving Plaza and get another FF geek to let me be their plus one.

And ticketmaster keeps saying…

Rara Excitement

I spent yesterday afternoon listening to Dave Grohl’s guest radio dj bit on BBC Radio 1 Legends.  They have the show up now.  It was a good show.  Here is his playlist of songs that changed his life.  What a good boy, he even included the Queens of The Stone Age.  I think I might like The Zombies.

Tracklisting
1. The Beatles – Taxman
2. Led Zeppelin – The Wanton Song
3. Bad Brains – Coptic Times
4. Rites Of Spring – Deeper Than Inside
5. No Means No – It’s Catching Up
6. Sonic Youth – Death Valley
7. Metallica – Hit The Lights
8. Motorhead – Iron Fist
9. Melvins – Hog Leg
10. Pixies – Motorway To Roswell
11. Queens Of The Stone Age – Regular John
12. Gerry Rafferty – Baker Street
13. Zombies – Care of Cell 44

Rara Music

Would you like to know how to win over this rara avis?  Take me to the Foo Fighters show at the Fillmore (formerly Irving Plaza) on September 20th, 2007.  Yes, I will be gushing over another man, but I’d be there with you.  *sigh*  Call me up whenever you want to grind.

Rara Fatigue

Fatigue seeps from my bone marrow, into my blood and my heart beats it through my flesh. *Mmm, beef marrow with red wine sauce from Blue Ribbon Bakery.*  Staying awake has been a painful feat, yet this morning has been fleeting blip on my tuned-out mental radar.  I have been unsuccessful in getting myself to wake up this morning (and now this afternoon).  My mind will only allow me to complete mundane tasks.  Today on the main theater in my brain is a never-ending mental replay of the scene discussing the irritating phrase, a case of the Mondays, from the movie “Office Space.”  I am also focused on discovering the source of my exhaustion.  Clues point to my diet, cooling temperatures and a walking-filled weekend.  My irrational logic only allows me to choose one of these things to attribute my lethargy, rather than a combination of all three.  Ha, at least I know I’m crazy.

I obviously have not gotten around to writing about Tailor and company.  I am not apologizing *maybe a little bit* but acknowledging I hadn’t forgotten.  How great of me, right?  Ha.

Tailor and Diner

I’ve been slacking.  *wait, that sounded too apologetic*  I’ve been busy. *alright, that sounds like an excuse*  It’s been a while since I posted anything about all of my eating.  *i’ll stop critiquing my writing in text*

The last seven days, not to mention the last three months have been fun, food and drink filled.  I’m thankful my life has been so full of happenings, but regret I’ve not had time to write about them all.  All of this in conjunction with the death (and recent reincarnation) of my beloved camera, have all resulted in much procrastination.  My mood today is a little bit sluggish, or perhaps that is just fatigue.  Overall, this week I have been utterly happy for no good reason.  My boss has been breathing down my neck about getting her stuff (versus my own projects) done.  Yes, I have a lot on my plate, but I am unusually unfazed, as here I am writing about not work related things.  Apparently nothing is going to kill my happiness, especially my excitement about the change in temperature.  Have you noticed fall’s artless declaration of it’s impending arrival?  This means scarves, hats, gloves and winter!  I’ve woken up this week with the covers still on me and a little chilly on my initial rise from bed.  I’m so happy that I can’t stop smiling about the weather.  Or maybe I’ve had a little too much coffee today. After dinner at Tailor last night, my dearest H sent me this link.  Then I found this.  I’m intimidated.  I wonder what sort of Nikon he uses.
